Alcide Richard

(1941-2007)

Alcide Joseph Richard of Rowley, N.B, beloved husband of Rose Richard, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 4, 2007, following a courageous and dignified battle with cancer.

 

Alcide was born in Acadieville on April 18, 1941, a son of the late Adolphe and Evelyn (Frenette) Richard. Alcide and Rose moved to Saint John, and later Rowley, to raise their growing family. He was a member of the Marie and Shipbuilders Union Local 3 and was employed for many years at Saint John Shipbuilding until his retirement in 1997. He remained an active member of St. Joseph's Parish, Loch Lomond, and the Knights of Columbus up until his death. His passion for his faith never wavered and he was an inspiration to all who knew him. Besides Rose, his wife of 41 years, he is survived by five children, Yvon (Emily) of Quispamsis, Monique Scribner (Joseph) of Fort McMurray, Ab., Francinie Bull (Tony) of Harvey Station, N.B., Eric (Lori) of Quispamsis, and Claude (Rachelle) of Kanata, Ont; four siblings, Adrien (Elva) of Saint John, Maria L'Abbe (Guy) of Dalhousie, Ferdnand (Claudette) of Buctouche, and Rheal of Dieppe; ten beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Suzanne, and Kurtis Scribner, Kathleen and Laura Bull, Jasmine and Traviss Richard, and Evan, Ryan, and Avery Richard; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Visiting at St. Joseph's Church, Loch Lomond, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church on Monday morning at eleven o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
